Give a Quillnews plume to NYT op-ed writer Frank Rich. I disagree with his political conclusions virtually all of the time, but Rich is one of the few columnists in MSM who sees the frequent merging of the realms of our political, entertainment and pop culture into one conventional narrative of modern life. His pieces are insightful and on point. Rich focuses on what Quillnews calls Media-ville – where we have become accustomed, and even enjoy, that our media deliberately merge facts and fantasy into conventional narratives for artistic, marketing or political effects. It's all kind of cool. But occasionlly confusing. Modern life has created a separate reality on which we must select what to believe and not believe, and sometimes we get it all wrong. Great books on this subject: Daniel Boorstin’s "The Image,” Richard Schickel’s “Intimate Strangers,” and “Unreality Industry” by Ian Isikoff and Warren Bennis.
