Quillnews was pleased to see a House committee chairman act like one Friday when Rep. Sensenbrenner gaveled the judiciary committee hearing closed and left “progressives” like Nadler to natter into a dead mike. The issue at hand was the Patriot Act. Second-guesser lefties like Nadler and Pelosi wanted to make sure that Amnesty International (HT: LGF) and all the other jihad-enablers got a chance to manufacture some enemy psy-ops ammo before the House committee and Sensenbrenner shut that down pronto. Good. (Update HT: Powerline, PL2) The Patriot Act should be renewed by the Congress without a second thought. President Bush was on the road this week to talk-up the renewal and prevent 16 sunset provisions from putting lawmen in the dark at year’s end. The Patriot Act, which Sen. Feinstein says HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED ONCE, has netted more than 400 jihad suspects, half of whom have already been convicted and no doubt wish they had followed some other preacher on how to get to paradise. In speeches in Columbus, and No. Virginia, Bush said renewing 16 key provisions of the the Patriot Act is necessary to:
- authorize better sharing of information between law enforcement and intelligence.
- authorize lawmen to use the same tools against terrorists that they already use against other criminals
- meet high-tech threats like computer espionage and cyber terrorism
- protect our civil liberties
On the matter of civil liberties, here's some facts to counter the Lesson 18 disinformation campaign by the jihadists and their enablers. Here are the government links to National Security, Homeland Security, Justice Department, and the FBI’s guidance on what provisions exist today to protect civil liberties. Here are other links to what the FBI is doing to fight terrorism, and how citizens can help. Here's AG Gonzales discussing the Patriot Act June 8 on Ohio News Network radio. To hear outfits like the ACLU, Human Rights First and Amnesty International talk you would think the global war on terrorism should focus on how we protect the rights of the enemy, not destroy them.
Quillnews wonders: Can anybody look at this psy-ops ammo from ACLU (2, video) and Human Rights First, Amnesty International, remember Osama's instruction in Lesson 18 and not wonder who these "human rights" guys are working for?
