The glass-is-half-empty crowd finally figured out how they’re going to attack Bush 43 for all the good news that is bursting out in the Middle East. Newsweek’s fashionable opinion leaders, represented by Christopher Dickey, the long time foreign correspondent, agree that something very positive is happening in Iraq, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon et al, and that the stars are finally lined up against Syria to get out of Lebanon, but all these developments are in spite of the Bush 43 policy to knock off Saddam and create a democratic state in Iraq. Arafat died on his own; Syria murdered Hariri; and it was Sistani who demanded elections! Ah, so that’s the reason that freedom is taking hold; now I understand. Somehow Quillnews had been under the impression this democratic revolution was taking root in the region in the most sweeping changes in a half century because US forces were in fact killing a murderous enemy, and the vast majority in these communities finally trusted that their freedom would be protected by a well-armed friend who was on the ground nearby and who meant what he said.
Quillnews loves reading about these incredible events: insightful reading is here, here and here. Wise heads all urge caution. But Quillnews' motto is: good news is good.
