Quillnews knows tort reform is needed – way too many
undeserving law suits by greedy lawyers whose professional focus is to act like
parasites on productive elements in society. The MSM is
taking an interest in Bush 43’s initiative and giving up Op-ed
space on how to go about it. That all fine.
Quillnews has a soft spot for a special breed of American – the snarling junk yard attack dogs who hang out in court houses and who pick their enemies and won’t quit. Last year, one attractive lawyer of this variety even had a decent run for President, and nearly became VP of the US. Whatever else may be said about John Edwards, this guy was the real deal – human, straight up, hard working, deeply resentful of privilege, and personally ambitious. This kid would focus on an adversary and not quit.
There is another guy, though less attractive and prone to connecting dots that don’t connect, named Ron Motley, a plaintiff’s lawyer who made a fortune in tobacco and asbestos litigation. Motley has filed $1 trillion law suit against Arab Bank in New York’s Eastern District on behalf of 700 survivors and family of those killed by terrorists against Israel. The Arab Bank has 400 branches in 30 countries, one a federal charted bank in NY, which is how the American lawyers can get into the act. Suing terrorists may seem over the top. But the Southern Poverty Law Center sued the KKK and other racists a few years back, and emptied the bank account of some bad actors putting them out of business. The US is filled with hungry guys eager to go after the bad guys – let’s figure out how to target this energy on the jihadist financiers hiding in the shadows. Put tort action to work for the good guys.
